Nutrition Unit at Clínica del Carmen

At Clínica del Carmen, our Nutrition Unit specializes in providing a comprehensive and personalized service to improve the quality of life of our patients. This service is aimed at both people seeking to improve their diet and weight control and those who are experiencing illness and require a specialized nutritional diagnosis.

Nutrition Services at Clínica del Carmen

  • Nutritional evaluation and diagnosis: We perform a comprehensive evaluation to identify individual nutritional needs, considering the medical history, eating habits and lifestyle of each patient.
  • Personalized diet planning: We design meal plans adapted to health conditions and personal objectives, promoting a balanced and healthy diet.
  • Weight control and nutritional education: We offer safe and effective weight loss programs, based on nutritional education and re-education to achieve long-term sustainable results. We offer nutrition education sessions, providing patients with tools to independently develop and maintain healthy eating habits.
  • Dietary analysis: We perform a dietary analysis for weight loss and control.
  • Support in chronic diseases: We provide specialized nutritional support for conditions such as diabetes, obesity, eating disorders and bacterial overgrowth (SIBO).
  • Metabolic diseases: We provide specialized nutritional care for the management of metabolic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemia.
  • Intolerances: We perform nutritional evaluation and treatment for various food intolerances, including lactose, fructose, wheat, gluten, sorbitol and histamine, among others.
  • TCA: We provide diagnosis and treatment for people suffering from eating disorders (EDs) such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder.
  • Microbiota: We evaluate alterations in the intestinal microbiota and its metabolic activity, as well as respiratory diagnostic tests and provide treatment for bacterial overgrowth (SIBO).
  • Other conditions: We also adapt nutritional plans for conditions such as celiac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, gastroesophageal reflux, etc.

Our Nutrition specialist: Gabriela Gordo Rodríguez

Gabriela Gordo Rodríguez, our dietitian-nutritionist, has a solid academic background and an outstanding professional career. She graduated in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Alcalá de Henares, in Madrid, and is a member of the Professional College of Dietitians-Nutritionists of the Canary Islands (Col. IC-00141).

Throughout his career he has accumulated a series of key specializations including Addressing Diabetes and Obesity, recognized by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) and the Academy of Science and Continuing Education on Diabetes and Obesity ( ASCEND), as well as the Specialization in Health Education in Diabetes Mellitus 2 and the Treatment of Overweight and Obesity, both awarded by the Miguel de Cervantes European University.

Their studies have also been complemented with training in Eating Disorders, by the Professional College of Dietitians-Nutritionists of the Community of Madrid (CODINMA), specific training in Patients with Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), Intermittent Fasting in Clinical Practice and a Postgraduate in Microbiota, at the Catholic University of Ávila. She has a Master's Degree in Teacher Training from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where she has also been a tutor in the Health, Nutrition and Dietetics Project module and collaborated as an international volunteer in the NGO “Nutrition Without Borders” in Gambia.
